Integrated Mobility Innovation
COTA was awarded a $1.7 million IMI Grant from the Federal Transit Administration to collaboratively leverage advanced technologies to promote public safety and improve the traveler experience across 13 counties in the Central Ohio region.
In addition to FTA funding,
COTA has committed to investing
$800,000
toward this effort to improve safety and enhance services for its customers.
Artificial Intelligence
and Machine Learning
help provide insights into incident detection, congestion alerts — such as providing traffic updates and reroute information to COTA operators — and more. Large amounts of data are used to learn patterns and detect anomalies and improve the overall travel experience.
Live Map:
Access location and/or status of transit-related assets
Routing:
Detect roadway incidents that affect routes
Performance:
See on-time performance of transit vehicles arriving at stops
Analytics:
Provide insights on average mileage, trips across county lines and more

Goals &
Benefits
Over a two-year period, COTA will work with Rekor Technologies to study and develop a cloud-based regional environment to process and share real-time data among transportation agencies. The project aligns with the Vision Zero Columbus initiative in that all accidents are preventable.
