Roll to the Polls: COTA to Waive All Fares on Election Day to Help Voters Get to Election Locations on Nov. 4
The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution to waive all transit fares for all customers on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Rolls to the Polls, an initiative designed to help improve access to polling locations, will allow customers to board any COTA transit vehicle on Election Day at no cost to them. This includes COTA’s fixed-route bus system, COTA Mainstream, Mainstream On-Demand and COTA//Plus.
“Providing fare-free service on Election Day reflects COTA’s commitment to removing any barrier and ensuring that every Central Ohioan has an equal opportunity to make their voice heard,” said COTA President/CEO Monica Téllez-Fowler. “Waving transit fares on Election Day is a simple but powerful way to show that mobility and democracy go hand in hand.”
Voters can check their polling location on the Franklin County Board of Elections Website. Once voters find their polling location, they can plan their trip at COTA.com or the Transit app on their smartphone.
All of COTA’s services operate during polling hours – 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. with bus service running from 5 a.m. to Midnight. Customer Care Call Center will also be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Election Day.
